Frequent flyer program is like benchmark to almost every airline.  It is their marketing method, created back in 1981, to convert travelers into repeat customers, by offering better service, frequent flyer miles for the flight and other benefits.

Today by collaboration with various partners – car rental companies, hotels, retailers, banks, newspapers, restaurants, insurance companies, the programs are so large, that you can obtain miles and get the free flight before you ever fly. Based on this provision I did a research.  I picked out the TOP 7 frequent flyer programs in United States.

SkyMiles

SkyMiles is presented by the largest airline in the world - Delta Airlines.  It operates in domestic and international markets. Recently, they acquired Northwest Airlines with its WorldPerks program. Delta SkyMiles is a member of SkyTeam, which is the alliance of nine airlines.

Mileage Plus

Mileage Plus is presented by United Airlines. It operates in domestic and international markets, including North America, Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Latin America. It is a member of Star Alliance, which combines 26 airlines with more than 600 million passengers every year.

AAdvantage

AAdvantage is presented by American Airlines. It is the largest airline according to the passenger fleet size, and it operates in domestic and international markets. American Airlines is a member of OneWorld alliance. It unifies 11 airlines serving 700 destinations worldwide.

Dividend Miles

Dividend Miles is presented by US Airways, which is the fifth largest airline in United States with Charlotte Douglas International Airport as its largest hub. Airline operates more than 3000 flights a day to 230 destinations. It is a member of Star Alliance.

Mileage Plan

Mileage Plan is presented by Alaska Airlines. It serves 56 destinations with around 500 daily departures.  It is a small airline with a large frequent flyer program. It offers the same benefits than any other program on this list.

Rapid Rewards

Rapid Rewards is presented by Southwest Airlines. It is the largest airline in United States by passenger carried domestically per annum, and it is sixth US airline by revenue. It has 540 airplanes with 3500 daily departures serving 64 destinations.

Midwest Miles

Midwest Miles are presented by Midwest Airlines. It is a small airline based in Milwaukee where its major base of operations is General Mitchell International Airport. Midwest airline commitment is to offering personal, attentive service both on the ground and on the air. It has earned e reputation as “The best care in the air ®”.
