Bachmann Prr

One to the largest selling model trains as far as the volume en masse is concerned is the Bachmann model train. It has become so popular due to its inexpensive high quality and complete line of accessories, building structures, add-ons and details available in the market. In addition to its finer quality, Bachmann model trains are large enough to be accommodated in a limited space. It could be easily handled by children without much danger of swallowing small parts.

Bachmann Industries had $ 46.87 M in sales turnover out of their trains and accessories as of December 31, 2006. It has evolved from a parasol and walking cane handles and Spanish comb production made of ivory and tortoise to the house hold name in America as "Plastic-ville USA" as accessories to trains produced by Lionel and American Flyers.

By the year 1970 it entered the Bachmann HO model trains in the market due to the popularity of the N scale modeling railroading but later in 1987 dropped all other toys and concentrated in the production of model trains and accessories. In the following year, Bachmann introduced their new line of higher quality model trains and equipment, updated motors, more realistic painting schemes and more intricate details. Such features came along with the initial release of the GE 44 Ton Diesel and it was expanded with the Pennsylvania Railroad K-4 Pacific an EMD GP 30 and General Electric Dash 8-40C.

By 1998, Bachmann presented to the public the more upgraded and innovated Spectrum HO scale 2-8-0 Consolidation and was elected as the Model of the Year by the Model Railroader Magazine readers. In 2001, Bachmann Industries ventured in to manufacturing the On30 model trains, an O scale model train running on HO track. As of the latest innovation put by Bachmann into operation is the Digital Command Control and Decoder to all Bachmann Spectrum HO model train lines.
