Top 5 Challenges Of Home Based Business
I had worked for 10 hours a day with at least a 1 hour commute each way for the last 10 years. Back in the 90's as a kid I was introduced to direct sales. I remember Don LaPre with his infomercials in the middle of the night. Many of those nights I laid up wondering how I was going to afford the rent on the first. I ended up being glued to the TV for hours, after all, all one needed to do was change the channel to rewatch "how to make money from your tiny one bedroom apartment". After all I had a tiny one bedroom apartment so I was destine to be a success. After learning so many methods, programs, information I still was not the success I envisioned…it was all amazing and yet overwhelming…
I made so many mistakes along the way. Yet with each I learned a "golden" nugget of information.
Today I want to share with you some of my mistakes and reasons, I feel I did not become an overnight sensation.
Chances are in you have found this article you are making the very same mistakes. Allow me to share my wisdom, allowing you to create your dream much faster than I. Let's not call them mistakes, yet challenges.
Challenge #1 Reading and Researching, Just Jump In and get your feet wet
After weeks and weeks of reading and trying to figure it all out I came to the conclusion I just needed to get off my rear and DO IT. After all I had taken the risk to create rewards yet I was not doing much about it. So what if I was not a success yet, I was one step closer by actually performing some of the tasks I learned reading. Some of those tasks made no sense, and remember these were before the days of Google. I did my best spent as little as possible and lived with trial and error. You will learn more in error than in success.
Challenge #2 Personally Responding
Back in the day when I was placing ads in newspapers, I would personally respond to each person that sent a letter to my P.O. Box. Quickly I learned I could not do that. Remember these were back in the days when I did not have a PC or even an iPhone. These days most marketing is done online. If you can afford an auto responder wonderful, If not most email programs can take care of that task for you for free. As me for details.
Challenge #3 Becoming Friends For Cash
Ok I understand this may sound strange, however, I know its not that strange. There are many people out there that will answer your ad simply because they look forward to your return call. They will gab about everything from their cats, to their stubbed toe or a deal at Home Depot. A good rule of thumb is not to give your phone number until AFTER you have qualified them as a potential client. If you have their email address set up a time to call them, make sure you know their time zone and FOLLOW through.
Challenge #4 Lack Of An Automated System
I know if you have gotten this far you are like "Dan I have no idea how to automate". Lucky for you have found a great mentor. Every company from Dell Computers to Starbucks and Mc Donald's has an automated system. Think about it for a moment. If you order a Big Mac from Mc Donald's in San Diego and then again in China chances are you are going to get the same end result. WHY? Systems work. Mc Donald's did not invest the burger they invented a system as did Dell and Starbucks. Without a system these companies would not have survived.
Challenge #5 Not Following Through
There's an old saying " The Fortune is made in the follow up". That saying alone is money in the bank. Given the technology in today's world there is no reason we are not all rich. The problem is most people give up to soon. Bill Gates was not rich overnight and if you think you will be you may as well shot yourself in the foot. Fortune takes work. It requires trial and error. Follow up with your prospects, whether an email a phone call or face to face if permitting. People shop around looking for the best value. Guess what you are the BEST VALUE. Once you believe that the ace is in the hole.
