Oil jobs and oil gas jobs – 3 things you need
While oil jobs and oil gas jobs are one of the most demanded jobs around, there are certain essentials that are needed to do well in these jobs. We have listed three essential things that are required from you to do well in these jobs.
1. Educational qualification – The right kind of educational qualification is a must for oil jobs and oil gas jobs. It is true that you don't need a university degree to land these jobs. There are many people who work in this sector with just a high school degree. However, almost all the employees in this sector have something that is essential – a certificate or diploma in engineering.
To really excel in oil jobs and oil gas jobs and to be able to climb up the ladder quicker than others, a certificate or diploma in engineering is a must for you. And it is all the better if you have a diploma or certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering. If you don't have this diploma or certificate, you may still land the job but you will end up working in the same position for years.
2. Ability to work hard – It takes a lot of hard work in oil jobs and oil gas jobs. Unlike other managerial jobs, it is hard work rather than smart work that propels you forward. From the driller to the manager – everyone needs to dirty their hands every now and then to make things work in the oil rig. This is a prerequisite that you must comply with. Smart working in the oil rig will, in most of the cases, not take you anywhere.
Having said that, I must also share that you need your interpersonal skill to make things move in the oil rig. After all, people who have oil jobs and oil gas jobs are also humans and sometimes you need those human relations principles to motivate and engage your team. So, it is a combination of pressure, hard work and appreciation that really works in the rig.
3. Discipline – Oil jobs and oil gas jobs require a lot of discipline from all the people who work in the rig. There are norms, rules and safety procedures that need to followed and you simply cannot ignore them. Before you start working, you will be trained on all the safety procedures that you need to follow. Ignorance may even lead to termination of your job. Discipline is non-negotiable and you simply need to know what to do or what not to do.
Spend time on quality training and education that you will receive before you hit the rig. Learn all you can about oil jobs and oil gas jobs so that you don't have any area that is unknown.
If you have these three basic qualities then there is no reason why you should not do well in oil jobs and oil gas jobs. Get all the training, learn how to manage people and teams and you should be a fantastic employee for your employer.

Oil and Gas in Africa $89 The book, a joint work of the African Development Bank and the African Union, presents a comprehensive analysis of the oil and gas resources in Africa. It uniquely highlights, through country examples, and with an African focus but a global perspective, the specific challenges and constraints facing the continent as a whole in the exploitation and utilization of its oil and gas resources. It partly draws on a model that simulates the impact of high oil prices on African economies, amodel that was developed by the Research Department of the Bank in a separate study. The roles of AfDB and AU are analyzed, considering their differing, but complementary, mandates geared towards the development of the continent. Finally, the book includes recommendations on the future directionsand actions for maximizing benefits of Africa's oil and gas resources. |

Oil and Gas Equipment in Indonesia $195 How to Strategically Evaluate Indonesia. Perhaps the most efficient way of evaluating Indonesia is to consider key dimensions which themselves are composites of multiple factors. Composite portfolio approaches have long been used by strategic planners. The biggest challenge in this approach is to choose the appropriate factors that are the most relevant to international planning. The two measures of greatest relevance to oil and gas equipment are “latent demand” and “market accessibility”. The figure below summarizes the key dimensions and recommendations of such an approach. Using these two composites, one can prioritize all countries of the world. Countries of high latent demand and high relative accessibility (e.g. easier entry for one firm compared to other firms) are given highest priority. The figure below shows two different scenarios. Accessibility is defined as a firm’s ease of entering or supplying from or to a market (the “supply side”), and latent demand is an indicator of the potential in serving from or to the market (the “demand side”). Framework for Prioritizing Countries. Demand/Market Potential Driven Firm. Relative Accessibility. Accessibility/Supply Averse Firm. In the top figure, the firm is driven by market potential, whereas the bottom figure represents a firm that is driven by costs or by an aversion to difficult markets. This report treats the reader as coming from a “generic firm” approaching the global market – neither a market-driven nor a cost-driven company. Planners must therefore augment this report with their own company-specific factors that might change the priorities (e.g. a Canadian firm may have higher accessibility in Canada than a German firm). Latent Demand and Accessibility in Indonesia. This report provides a detailed overview of factors driving latent demand and accessibility for oil and gas equipment in Indonesia. Latent demand is largely driven by economic fundamentals specific to oil and gas equipment. This topic is discussed in Chapter 2 using work carried out in Indonesia on behalf of American firms and authored by the United States government (typically commercial attachés or similar persons in local offices of the U.S. Department of State). I have included a number of edits to clarify the information provided. Latent demand only represents half of the picture. Chapter 2 also deals with micro-accessibility for oil and gas equipment in Indonesia. I use the term “micro” since the discussion is focused specifically on oil and gas equipment. Chapter 3 is also a stand-alone report that I have authored. It covers proxy pro-forma financial indicators of firms operating in Indonesia. I use the word “proxy” because the provided figures only cover a “what if” scenario, based on actual operating results for firms in Indonesia. The numbers are only indicative of an average firm whose primary activity is in Ind |
