Pipe extrusion line
Pipe extrusion line
A tubular liner for a pipe is collapsed on itself to define a pair of lobes. The lobes are folded into a central region so that bending modulus and radius are reduced. The liner can be stored in a tighter coil and can be introduced into an underground pipe to be lined at a more acute angle.
This pipe extrusion linerelates to pipe lining for renovating or rehabilitating pipes or other conduits bearing, for example, water, gas, sewage or other fluids. The corrugated pipe extrusion line is particularly applicable to pipe extrusion liners for underground pipes.
When such underground pipes have deteriorated by, for example, corrosion, ageing or other damage, repair or renewal by methods which require the digging of a trench along the full length of the pipe are expensive, timeconsuming and cause disruption especially in urban areas.
Various methods exist to rehabilitate pipes by the in situ insertion of a pipe extrusion liner which fits closely within the pipe and which may be bonded to the inside of the pipe. Several processes exist whereby relatively rigid plastics lining pipes made by corrugated pipe extrusion machine, are treated to reduce their original diameter sufficiently so that they can be pulled into the existing pipe and then further treated to regain their original diameter and form a close internal fit with the existing pipe.
A previously proposed collapsed corrugated pipe production line is illustrated in FIG. 1 of the drawings. Such liners have a smaller bend radius than a circular cross-section liner, require lower pull-in loads and may be used for lining pipes which are not truly circular in cross-section. However, such liners need to have relatively thin walls in order to be deformable into the described cross-sections and this limits their mechanical performance in terms of their ability to withstand internal or external pressure when unsupported. By way of clarification external pressure may be considered to be derived from loads transmitted through a saturated sub-soil from, for example, the vehicles on a roadway above. This external pressure can result in collapse of the liner if it is not sufficiently rigid.
A disadvantage with such systems is that the liners have a large bending radius due to their rigidity and circular cross-section. The diameter is only slightly less than the diameter of the pipe extrusion line to be lined and, thus, long lengths of liner have very large coil diameters which is both inconvenient for delivery and use on site. Furthermore, insertion is difficult because of the small diameter difference between the pipe and the liner.

Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads $203 Aircraft performance is influenced significantly both by aeroelastic phenomena, arising from the interaction of elastic, inertial and aerodynamic forces, and by load variations resulting from flight and ground manoeuvres and gust / turbulence encounters. There is a strong link between aeroelasticity and loads, and these topics have become increasingly integrated in recent years.  Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads introduces the reader to the main principles involved in a wide range of aeroelasticity and loads topics. Divided into three sections, the book begins by reviewing the underlying disciplines of vibrations, aerodynamics, loads and control. It goes on to describe simplified models to illustrate aeroelastic behaviour and aircraft response before introducing more advanced methodologies. Finally, it explains how industrial certification requirements for aeroelasticity and loads may be met and relates these to the earlier theoretical approaches used.  Presents fundamentals of structural dynamics, aerodynamics, static and dynamic aeroelasticity, response and load calculations and testing techniques. Covers performance issues related to aeroelasticity such as flutter, control effectiveness, divergence and redistribution of lift. Includes up-to-date experimental methods and analysis. Accompanied by a website with MatLAB and SIMULINK programs that relate to the models used. Introduction to Aircraft Aeroelasticity and Loads enables the reader to understand the aeroelastic and loads principles and procedures employed in a modern aircraft design office. It will appeal to final year undergraduate and masters students as well as engineers who are new to the aerospace industry.  |

Structural Fire Loads (Hardcover) $180.78 A complete guide to designing structures to better withstand the effects of fires of various growthsStructural Fire Loads: Theory and Principles combines the disciplines of structural engineering and fire protection engineering by offering a screening tool that can be used by engineers to perform preliminary assessments of fire as a load and its impact on structures. The book covers slow, medium, fast, and ultra-fast fire growth and fires in combination with seismic loads.Neither the 2009 IBC nor ASCE-7 considers fire a structural design load in buildings when prescriptive resistive design methods are used. However, the ICC Performance Code for Building and Facilities requires that the structural integrity of a building be evaluated and maintained to limit fire impact. This practical guide bridges the gap between structural engineering and fire protection engineering when fire is considered a design load.Structural Fire Loads features:Practical examples for fire protection and structural engineering design presented in a simple, step-by-step computational formatDetails on slow, medium, fast, and ultra-fast fire growthA Solutions Manual for equations presented in chapters 6 and 7NIST Best Practices and Surveys for Fire LoadsA single source that outlines how fire impacts structuresAuthoritative coverage:Overview of Current Practice; Structural Fire Load and Computer Models; Differential Equations and Assumptions; Simplifications of Differential Equations; Fire Load and Severity of Fires; Structural Analysis and Design |

Moving Loads on Ice Plates $492.28 Moving Loads on Ice Plates is a unique study into the effect of vehicles and aircraft travelling across floating ice sheets. It synthesizes in a single volume, with a coherent theme and nomenclature, the diverse literature on the topic, hitherto available only as research journal articles. Chapters on the nature of fresh water ice and sea ice, and on applied continuum mechanics are included, as is a chapter on the subjects venerable history in related areas of engineering and science. The most recent theories and data are discussed in great depth, demonstrating the advanced state of the modelling and experimental field programmes that have taken place. Finally, results are interpreted in the context of engineering questions faced by agencies operating in the polar and subpolar regions. Although the book necessarily contains some graduate level applied mathematics, it is written to allow engineers, physicists and mathematicians to extract the information they need without becoming preoccupied with details. Structural, environmental, civil, and offshore engineers, and groups who support these industries, particularly within the Arctic and Antarctic, will find the book timely and relevant.
