Solar Lanterns and Travel

The great thing about solar lanterns and travel is the ability you have to take these lights anywhere. This article is about how flexible solar lanterns and other solar devices can be when you travel. It does not matter where you go or where you stay. You have more options now in the types of solar lights you can buy and use. You may want solar lights that also reflect your concern for safety, your need for light, and your desire for something that is decorative.

Think of Safety

Be sure to think about safety when you look for solar lanterns or any other solar device. You want to make sure they are certified, resist corrosion so they don't rust, and resist water. Solar lanterns and other lights are lightweight, yet provide a bright light. The amount of time the light works may depend on the size of the light and the rechargeable batteries it uses. Solar powered lights are environmentally friendly and an alternative to other sources of light.

You can use the electric cords for something else because solar lanterns don't need them. You also aren't going to run up an electric bill from them. Gas or other fuels are hazardous and difficult to store or transport. Good thing you don't need them for solar lanterns. Another advantage of solar lanterns and other solar products is they can be used in enclosed areas such as tents, homes, or RVs.

All you really need is to set them in the sun (even a window) from time to time and charge them up. You can then turn on the solar lights manually or have them set to automatically turn on. Some solar lights even have a switch that turns on colors. In these smaller solar lanterns, look for an optional charger for your car that could be handy on overcast days.

Where to Use Them

The best part of these lights is they can go anywhere. There are lights built into shapes of dogs, cars, gnomes, and other objects that give light and look great in an entry way or in a yard. If you travel in an RV or if your rent a house, one of the dogs or gnomes would look good outside the RV and provide some light as well. You can put smaller lanterns in bathrooms or hallways at night for light. You can put solar lanterns and lights anywhere because they do not give off heat and do not start fires if they are knocked over. Some of the larger solar lanterns can go in a boathouse, fishing camp, outbuildings, and tents because they are so safe and yet give out good light. Get something that is in the shape of candles but they are better than candles since they stay lit in windy or rainy weather. Take solar lanterns with you when you travel no matter where you go. You can even get lights that clip on to surfaces to read by or trouble shoot.
