Mind Your Own Story to Create A New Life
Mind Your Own Story is a marvelous play on words as well as a call to change your life. Growing up I always heard people say, "Mind your own business!" I would often wonder what that "business" was they were supposed to be minding. Intellectually I knew it meant to stop butting in someone else's affairs. But, hmmm….
Instead of minding your own business, I feel it's necessary to begin by minding your own story. We all live and tell our stories – to others as well as to ourselves. Unfortunately, the majority of those stories are grounded in fear, doubt, anxiety, lack and limitation. If there is one piece of the story that is positive and empowering, it gets buried under the muck and glossed over as insignificant. These are the stories we live our lives from. Our lives are rooted in these stories, thus creating more of the same day after day after day.
Well, it is time to change your story by creating a brand new story. In changing your story, you change your reality and create a new life.
The "mind" part of Mind Your Own Story means you will create your new story mindfully and consciously – not by default. No more allowing external events and circumstances determine your story and your life. You can make conscious choices about your story and your life.
The "own" part of Mind Your Own Story has a double meaning. First, it is your story, not the story you have inherited through past conditioning from family members, authority figures, cultural influences or the media. Your story is your own; it comes out of who you are – your values, your desires, and your character. Second, you own this new story, so own it! Your story is your own and you own your story. It belongs to no one else except you.
This should help you in minding your own story. Your new story must come from that deep place within – your core authentic self. You are a divine expression, a creator of all that is you. It is not only your birthright; it is who you truly are. So stop allowing external circumstances determine your path. Take the mindful and conscious journey to creating the life you truly desire. Stop living someone else's dreams and goals and stop living on autopilot. Take the proactive approach to creating your own life, you own story. Make the decision to Mind Your Own Story today!

Two Cities: A Love Story $3.95 A redemptive, healing novel, Two Cities brings to brilliant culmination the themes John Edgar Wideman has developed in fourteen previous acclaimed books. It is a story of bridges -- bridges spanning the rivers of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, bridges arching over the rifts that have divided our communities, our country, our hearts. Narrated in the bluesy voices of its three main characters, Two Citiesis a simple love story, but it is also about the survival of an endangered black urban community and the ways that people discover for redeeming themselves in a society that is failing them. With its indelible images of confrontation and outrage, matched in equal measure by lasting impressions of hope, Two Cities is a compassionate, lacerating, and nourishing novel. |

Israel's Story: Part Two $9.95 "In the first volume of this work, Dianne Bergant leads readers in an exploration of the earliest years of Israelite history, from the accounts of creation in Genesis through the divided Kingdom of David. Already drawn into the drama of Israel's beginnings, readers of Israel's Story--Part One will be eager to pick up this second volume and continue the journey. Those who have not read the first volume can easily enter Part Two and save Part One for a later time. From the theological significance of the Davidic monarchy to the prophetic call to covenant faithfulness, from the Babylonian exile to the influence of Greek culture on Jewish thought and practices, from the oral culture to the written word that is now the Old Testament--Israel's Story--Part Two allows readers to delight in and appreciate more fully both the depth and diversity of our ancestors in faith. Bergant, in these two volumes, stands before readers as the teacher who makes history come alive, in this case helping us discover that Israel's story is our Christian story as well. Malchus : A Story Of Two Loves $15.99 "Malchus! Who was this little known biblical character whose moment of fame put him in the middle of one of history's most significant events-Jesus' betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was the beneficiary of one of the Lord's last miracles on earth, the healing of his ear cleaved from his head by the sword of the impetuous Peter. On this and nothing more, Malchus' name is recorded for all human posterity. But who was he and what was he like? We know he was the slave of the high priest Caiaphas. As such, he was probably ordered to be there when the Lord was arrested and may have had no animosity toward Jesus. What was his reaction to the healing of his ear? Could he experience the Lord's personal touch and not become a follower of the Way? What happened after? Did he have a life apart from slavery? Did he fall in love? Was he eventually saved?" |
